Last night I blocked two bookmarks and Romani. I used blocking wires to block them all and boy am I glad I had them. With Romani in particular they helped to ensure that the edge was not only straight but had an even width throughout. I remember the days when I would read a pattern, see that an item would need blocking and think to myself "I won't bother". Now I can see how much of a difference blocking makes, it not only increases the size of the piece but makes any details pop.

What's Next

Romani and argyle & Greatest Love bookmarks are currently being blocked. There's one more bag to line and some crocheted bookmarks to ribbon and label. Now that my first load of items are on their way out, it's time to think about what to do next. Well, I've already decided to focus on kids for the next load of makes. So blankets, booties, and hopefully toys will be next on my needles/hooks. I've got two blankets on the go already (Manasseh & Micah) so I'm already partway their. I may also do a hat if I can come up with a quick pattern.

Great British Bake Off

I've just watched the Great British Bake Off (well a recording of the first episode) and I'm glad to see it back. It's got to be one of my favourite shows. The Union Jack cake was so good as was the cake that looked like a pie with the black birds in it. I don't have any favourites yet, though it was a shame to see Natasha go (if only she hadn't put the rum babas in a ban marie).

Lining a bag

The Yet to be named bag is finished and lined, though not to my satisfaction. I couldn't work out how to sew in the lining without the stitches showing up on the outside of the work. Well yesterday I conducted an online search and found this Sewing A Lining For A Crocheted Bag, it explains how to sew a linking for a crocheted bag and then how to sew the lining into the bag. It turns out that I'll have to hand see the lining into the bag, something I was trying to avoid, but I guess it's necessary to achieve a professional look. I'm going to try it first with the second yet to be named bag and see how I go.

Brooch Found

I just found a brooch that I haven't seen in a while. I made it a few years ago. I may put it on my MISI or see if I can make another one.

Grand Opening 20/8/12

I've finished knitting/crocheting everything. The last piece was Romani, which I finished last night. Now I've got until the 20th to block line and label everything.
I'm so glad that everything is finally coming together. I've got the organza bags, swing tags and business cards. I'm expecting the rubber stamp tonne delivered this morning. I can't believe that I'm actually going to do this.
