Operation 'Keeping Busy': Wednesday & Thursday

So Wednesday's activities were reading, shapes and colours flash cards, and drawing/colouring in. We did all these except for the shape flash cards, I didn't have time to finish preparing them.

The book we read was Halibut Jackson, which they really enjoyed. Out of all the colours we went through, the only one they consistently recognised was orange, the others were hit and miss.

Yesterday's activities were number flash cards, painting and singing. We didn't get round to any if these as I totally forgot that the play link worker from Homestart Haringey was coming (I thought it was Saturday). She arrived with some toy animals and was surprised at how many they could name and that they knew what sounds they make. I was very surprised that DS #2 knew what a giraffe was as he usually calls them Melman (from the Madagascar films).

They also played a matching game and explored a treasure box.
They had a lot of fun.

Today's activities are play dough (we might make some more if I can find spare containers), colour and fruit flash cards and drawing with chalk. I'm determined to do them all.

Operation 'Keeping Busy': Tuesday

I've been planning ways to keep my boys busy over the holiday. They don't start big nursery until the middle of September, so I've got 8 weeks of toddler 'fun' to endure.

I decided to have different activities each day, yesterday was playing with their cars on their Big City Road Map, working through Fruit flash cards and having fun with glue. I downloaded the flash cards from Brill Kids or Brill Baby (one of the two)

They really enjoyed the glue, I may do some papier mâché once I've decided on what would be easy to make.

Today is Reading (though we'll still read on other days), shapes and colours flash cards and drawing/colouring in. There's no messy play as we have bible study this evening and I don't want a big mess to clean up.

Pepper, Pepper, Pepper Pot

Alas my basil plants died. I left them outside one night during the spring, it was a frosty night and they couldn't handle it. The peppers on the other hand are thriving, I've got a chilli pepper that looks ready to use, but I'll wait until more appear before harvesting it.

I also have Thai Basil growing, can't wait to use it.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Whilst a lot has been happening since my last consistent spate of posting, the main thing I've been focused on is knitting/crocheting for my friend. She gave birth to twins (both boys) last month. I've made a pair of booties each using a pattern by Double Diamond Knits (Oh Baby! Baby Booties), two pairs of hats each, and one cardigan. I'm currently working on the second cardigan. The cardigan is King Cole Little Kitty Cardie.

It took time to get it stared because I was suffering from knitting fatigue after finishing the first cardigan and starting a poncho by Bergere de France (now on hold until I finish the cardigan), I've slightly altered the finished look by not having a button and adding crocheted car appliqués.

On Monday I posted the booties and hats and i'll send over the cardigans when the second one is finished.
